Metaform workshop

DESCRIPTION

Within the Tbilisi Architecture Biennial we were invited to participate as tutors in a workshop on Formal Analysis. Since we have been dealing with this topic for some years (thanks to the teachings of Professor Lorenzo Degli Esposti) we accepted with interest.

Throughout 19-30 October the participants of the “Metaform” workshop rediscovered the context of Soviet modernist architecture of Tbilisi and worked to understand its architectural, spatial and compositional characteristics. Through Formal Reading and other methods of analytical thinking in architecture they have produced analytical drawings and models which were exhibited in the former Post-Telegraph building of Tbilisi.

Among the workshop lecturers: Lorenzo degli Esposti (IT), Levan Kalandarishvili (GE), Peter Eisenman (USA), Lena Kiladze (GE),  Andrew Saunders (USA), Pier Paolo Tamburelli (IT), and many others.

Finally, the jury identified the three most valid projects, below we propose the results of the best students.
